Rascal - Hours Away from Death to Unbelievable Transformation

Late at night on October 24, 2015 Rescue Dogs Rock took in, and shared with you all, the WORST embedded collar case we and the shelter had ever seen. The dog’s name is Rascal. He was almost decapitated. He’s was a 1 year old pit mix weighing only 31 pounds.

When rescuers found Rascal they were horrified by what they saw. The scariest part of this story is the collar that staff removed from his neck was his puppy collar along with a thick metal chain covered in dried and new blood and flesh.

Rascal’s neck wound was 360 degrees around & 3-4 cm deep. The injury was dangerously close to his trachea. If he had not been rushed in for ER surgery, he may not have lived much longer. We cringe to imagine the pain and suffering this poor boy endured. It makes us literally sick to our stomachs that someone fed him and watched this slow torture happen over time. This certainly did not get this way over night.

Months and two surgeries later Rascal has healed! Vet staff cleaned the wound and stitched it back up. It took months of rehab and care for Rascal to heal but we are happy to announce he is alive and healthier then ever! He has nothing but good things coming his way now. He’ll be pampered and spoiled for the rest of his life.

Only because of you is Rascal alive today. Hundreds of you purchased shirts, bracelets, necklaces and totes. With your purchases, you have changed the world of Rascal forever.
