DON'T GIVE UP!
I can't stop crying ... Look how he has given up. What vet staff found in their X-rays was shocking...Keep Reading : http://dogco.org/save-rugby-scrPosted by Hendrick & Co. on Sunday, March 19, 2017
A volunteer rushed Rugby to the critical care emergency hospital in NYC traffic. He is in critical condition at our emergency veterinary hospital. Further diagnostic testing done today show that he has 3 separate blockages from a foreign body in his small intestine and one blockage in his stomach. Without emergency surgery he will die.
He's very sick from a raging skin infection associated with his mange and pneumonia. It is unclear what the underlying cause is of his little body being so immunosuppressed. This makes his risk of undergoing surgery very high. His albumin Level is low which is a protein you need to help the body heal. We don't know if he will survive the surgery. We are doing everything we can to help Rugby. He is getting the best medical care possible.
We want to give him every possible chance to survive this. He's only 3 years old and has his whole life in front of him. He deserves to know what a family life filled with love and happiness is. We are heartbroken to know he's never had this.
“A seasoned volunteer said rugby was in the worst condition she has ever seen a dog when he arrived at the shelter. We are fighting with Rugby to make his life count and fill it with everything he has ever dreamed of and has never imagined.”
UPDATE 4-2-17 : He had copious secretions in his nose which was cleared out immediately and his breathing has improved. He has a foreign body in his stomach which looks like a big chunk of cellophane. He's been vomiting and is emaciated and this is likely why. They are giving him iv antibiotics , fluids and pain meds tonight. The plan is to try to endoscopically remove the object tomorrow. He has a horrific case of demodex mange and bleeds when you touch his skin in any point. He also has a corneal abrasion which is being treated with antibiotics.
We have created this campaign page with Second Chance Rescue NYC to help raise the funds needed for Rugby to be stabilized and for his surgeries. Everything you see on his page from a tee shirt, tote bag, hoodie and necklace helps us reach our goal and helps Rugby get the second chance at life he deserves. These items make great gifts. Please help become his voice.
