Champ's abuser let a firecracker explode in his mouth.

There is no way to warn you about how graphic this case was. On April 9th this poor baby was found with half of his face ripped off. The emergency vet said this damage was done from the inside out. This means his abuser put a firecracker in his mouth and let it explode. We were horrified at what has happened to him. Champ was found wandering in a rural area in Dallas Texas. Our partners at Dallas Dog RRR were in shock when they saw him for the first time.

Half of Champs face was nearly blown off. His left nostril was missing and his jaw was completely shredded. His teeth look like they had been ground down or blasted out as well. To think of the pain Champ must have felt is heartbreaking.

On top of the abuse Champ was also severely emaciated with his ribs protruding out. We cannot bear to think what he had lived through. How much pain, suffering and neglect did he have to endure before he was found? We made a promise to Dallas Dog RRR and Champ that we would help fund his recovery and thanks to you for purchasing his animal saving tees we were able to help give him the care he needed. Over $5,000 were raised to help save his life.

Champ was rushed to an emergency clinic to be stabilize. The doctors were in shock to see his condition. He needed to be stabilized before starting multiple reconstructive surgeries. Three days later on April 11th rescuers dropped Champ off to have his first of many reconstructive surgeries to begin the repair of his mouth and nose. The first surgery was primarily to repair his shattered jaw. He had temporary stitches put in to help close all of the open trauma. They were not able to hold for more than a day because of the amount of dead tissue surrounding his jaw.

Once inside the surgeon could see clearly the damage that had been done because there was a hole blown straight through his gum line, which is where it seems the firework was placed. The photos show the hole and the extensive surrounding trauma. Both of his canines had to be removed as they were fractured from the blow. His gums were repaired but the doctor wasn't sure they would hold.

Then on April 17 (6 days after he was found) little Champ went back for a follow up and were surgeons reported that the hole in his mouth was starting to heal nicely. It's was bit open but needed to heal more before it could be restitched. Part of the reconstructive surgery was trying to repair his nostril. It was discovered that the nasal cavity was going to need another separate surgery. I know these images are hard to see but this was the reality Champ was facing.

Then in May doctors discovered the two areas on the inside of his mouth were not healing properly. So surgeons performed two more surgeries to close everything for good.

Despite the 4 reconstructive surgeries, dental surgeries, thousands of stitches, months of bandage changes and laser treatments he remained a sweet loving baby through it all. Champ amazes everyone he meets with his sweet disposition and love for all living things. How someone could take advantage of this trusting soul and blow his mouth apart is truly vile and despicable.

Then a month later the best thing happened. Champ was adopted! His new Mommy is amazing and continues to take care of this boy as he heals. We are incredibly excited that he has a new chance at life. He will never be abused or hurt again.

Champ continues to improve in his new forever home and just become more and more loving and trusting. He has a beautiful baby brother who loves to snuggle and sleep with Champ every night. He sees the doctor every few weeks to check on hole in his mouth and make sure it's healing properly. His new Mommy is there for him every step of the way. She is a bright light of love in Champ’s new life.

He is an incredible soul and his photos speak volumes. Thank you for your support of this precious boy and for purchasing Champ’s tees, hoodies, candles and bracelets. You helped give him a second chance at life. For that we are eternally grateful and honored.

Together, we can continue to make a difference for animals in need. Please share Champ's transforation and show the world just how amazing animals can be!
