Henna went from being scalped by an abuser to now looking for her forever home!

Remember Henna whose back was scalped? One of our favorite partners Dallas Dog RRR saved a dog named Henna. She was a neighborhood stray that was seen frequently all year wandering around by the locals looking for food and a place for her to lay her head. She had no owner and no comforts of a home. She resurfaced with a gut-wrenching injury that shook the locals to their core and animal control was called.

It was obvious she needed critical care immediately. No one knows exactly what happened, but two things are clear. First, this was not done by another animal nor was she hit by a vehicle. Rescuers were puzzled as to how her entire back has been completely scalped off of her body. Just another homeless dog that no one gives a damn about and to add insult to injury, she is now in a life-threatening state.

When taken to the emergency care it was clear that she did not have enough skin to graph from another part of her body so she required several months. One thing was clear she was about to start one of the most taxing period in her life to heal from this horrible injury.

Then a few weeks after we received the best news. Blue Pearl Veterinarian Clinic was able to successfully reattach the entire piece of Hennas back that was hanging off her body. She was on 24 hour care to make sure the procedure is not rejected and can withstand any infection. She remained in urgent care for two months. The skin was accepted by her body and was not rejected! It was a true miracle.

Now for the best news yet. Henna was not only healing her physical wounds but also her mental wounds. She is beginning to trust and love. Her Rescuers at Dallas Dog RRR all fell in love with this girl and are so proud of her. She has completed all of her surgeries including her spay. Henna will be starting her heart worm treatment in the next few weeks. She loves her people, kids, dogs and even kitties. And… drumroll please … She is ADOPTABLE! This is just one of the many miracles DDRRR volunteers take in everyday! If you are interested in opening your home to Henna please visit www.dallasdogrrr.org/donate and fill out an application. We are just as thrilled as you are. Because of Dallas DogRRR combined with hundreds of customers who purchased shirts and accessories to help with her treatment, Henna received a new lease on life. She is just one of the many dogs we work to help support. A huge humble hug to Patti and her team at Dallas DogRRR. Please share Henna’s story and show the world just what LOVE can do.
