Sammie was a 3 month-old boxer pup that was spray-painted, shot in head, and drug behind a car. Yes, you read that right. Rescue Dogs Rock heard about his story and immediately stepped up to save his life. Rescue staff named him Sammie.
The puppy was dropped off at a South Carolina shelter as a "stray" which is very odd because the woman who dropped him seemed to know a whole lot about his story. But apparently because he was a "stray" and was "signed over" there was no investigation. This is the reality most shelters face with cases like these. Without a witness there is little they can do but focus on saving his life.
Sammie had a bullet hole in his head which you can see in the photos. His skin was ripped and sliced wide open from being dragged behind a vehicle and the bones in at least one of his back legs were crushed. He couldn't stand or walk at the time. The suffering he had endured at the hands of evil made us cringe.
Fast forward a few months later. A photo was shared of Simon, another abused dog, comforting Sammie and it went viral. His story was read and seen by almost a million supporters.
Sammie had 3 complicated orthopedic surgeries on his fractured back leg. The bullet removed and the wound has healed and the blue spray paint is completely gone. Sammie’s road to recovery was long. Months of rehab and surgery to fix what his abuser had done. Sammie doesn't even look like the same dog any more! And… the best news yet. HE WAS ADOPTED! I cant believe the journey he has been on. He only shows love now and will never feel pain again. Thank you to Sammie’s new family!
We partnered with Rescue Dogs Rock to create Sammie's campaign page and raise thousands of dollars in funds for his care. He had the very best care and surgeries and that’s all because of you! Everyone who purchased one of your shirts, hoodies, bracelets or totes all helped save tiny Sammie. This is the power behind a Hendrick & Co product!
We just love happy endings and wanted to share Sammie’s happiness with you! Share this story with your family and friends and show the world just how brave Sammie is.
P.S. Simon was also adopted to a wonderful family!
