Perkin's survived being tortured for months.
A couple systematically abused and tortured a puppy named Perkins. His abusers adopted him from a shelter and returned Perkins 2 months later because they stated they wanted a new puppy. His abusers were even demanding that the shelter refund their money! Can you believe that?
They left him at the shelter in a closed cardboard box. They stated to the animal control officer, “We want to return this dog and get a new dog.”
He was so dehydrated and emaciated that his body and brain changed on what levels it needed to survive. His eyes were preeminently damaged and his brain took months to recover.
His bones were sticking out under his skin, his muscle tone was gone and he could not walk. His abusers made a CHOICE to NOT feed or give him water! They made a conscious choice to watch him suffer.
Dallas DogRRR said this is the worst case of cruelty they have seen in three years. At the emergency vets doctors first started to stabilize Perkins.
The process started with rehydrating Perkins and started him on a diet to slowly put back on weight. Sadly his eyes were too far damaged and he will never have normal vision again. The cornea is still damaged however he can see a bit doctors said it is like looking through frosted glass.
His rescuers started working directly with an investigator. There is so much evidence in this case that we knew they would be able to prosecute.
On February 26th authorities sent out arrest warrants for the couple who abused Perkins but they went on the run and fled from authorities. It was looking like the couple was going to get away with this crime.
Several months later the couple who abused Perkins were found after they were issued a speeding violation. They both were immediately arrested during the traffic stop! Just because the two alleged abusers were arrested and charged does not assure we will see them taken to court. There is still a chance they can be offered a plea at lesser charges instead of being taken to court.
Rescuers are now asking for your help in writing letters to the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office to take this case to court. Rescuers want these two alleged abusers to be charged to the fullest extent of the law. This will send a clear message to abusers that animal abuse will NOT be tolerated and will be charged!
