The story of a puppy in a full body cast and the journey to his new family!
This was a story that touched peoples hearts across the world. Baby Cisco went from being horribly abused to now having a new family and a new chance at life.
We first introduced you to after hundreds of people walked by him before he was helped. Thankfully a good samaritan picked him up. Cisco was limping in pain and homeless. Both right front and rear legs were torn to pieces and infected with maggots and foul smelling necrotic tissue.
Volunteer, Barbie, rushed to the clinic to see Cisco and finding him in grave danger decided it was best to bring him to Henry’s Hope’s private vet clinic who has experience saving badly injured dogs like Cisco. Dr. Barry Baum at Center Sinai Animal Hospital went into action to save Cisco. When he was found he was only 10 weeks old. Now he is almost 2 years old and looks like a completely different puppy!
This is what love and care can do. Doctors had a daunting tast ahead of them. Cisco had huge areas of his skin that were missing and what was left had decayed. He has enormous holes in his inner thigh and front arm. He was completely infested with maggots.
Thankfullly Cisco surgeons at Henry’s Hope’s private vet clinic spent months putting this tiny puppy back together again. Thousands of our supports rallied around this dog and you helped fund his very long recovery process. You call purchased shirts, hoodies and coffee mugs to help give Cisco the care he needed!
He had several surgies, months of rehabilitation, almost a hundred different vet visits and throughout the entire process he remained a sweet, gentle and caring soul. Through the pain he had so many supporters to support him along the way including his rescuers at Henry’s Hope Foundation, Inc. Their team of volunteers and foster worked around the clock and never gave up on Cisco. From the beggining the knew, with thier support, he would walk again and know love and family.
AND THEY WERE RIGHT! Cisco was adopted by his new family who continues to support him with their love. This story makes my heart smile.
I have happy tears in my eyes as I write this article. Sometimes in the animal rescue world we only see that worst in humans. This story is here to remind you the best of humans and how an animal has the power to change someones life.
We thank you. All of this would not be possible without your support. Thank you for helping us save these innocent victims of abuse.
