Eliel's skin is turning to stone
I don’t know where to begin. Eliel is safe but needs immediate medical care. He was found in Puerto Rico wandering around confused and scared. Poor Eliel only knows loneliness and doesn’t know what is happening now. Near & Far Animal Foundation immediately went into action to save him.
Eliel's skin is literally stone that cracks with each step. His front leg has a large wound and he cannot bear weight on it. His body is frail and tells a story of a lifetime full of pain. Eliel will be getting x-rays of his injured leg soon. He is very fearful and his veterinary staff have started the process of showing him he is safe. They did find he has intestinal parasites, positive for canine ehrlichiosis and skin scrapes show Eliel is positive for sarcoptic mange.
Rescuing an animal in a foreign country takes a village of animal warriors to save him. NAFAF has rescue volunteers in many countries across the globe including Puerto Rico. And now they need our help.
Here is an update photo of Eliel taken hours ago. More information is coming out about how he was treated and it is horrible. Thank god rescuers stepped in but it is going to be a long road. Eliel's doctors started his heartworm prep protocol which will also treat the tick borne erhlichia. But he is still frightened, even of his rescuers. It's really sad to see how mentally broken he is. We are waiting on the x ray results to see if doctors can save his front leg.
His emergency care is costing Near & Far Animal Foundation hundreds of dollars and those are funds they simply do not have. We are here to help! With every purchase of the Save Eliel product triggers a life saving donation to his care. Together we can help save this very brave boy.
Our fella still has pain in the front limb and he is starting to allow handling so his date with an x-ray is soon! Day by day Eliel gets a little bit stronger. He gets a little bit more confidence. His raw, painful skin is resolving with medication and baths. His progress is slow but it is positive. He even gets up now when his supporters come to visit and spend time with him. Eliel is heartworm positive and needs to get stronger before beginning HW treatment.
No dog deserves this neglect and loneliness
Please continue to support Eliel and his rescuers! They need our support now more than ever! I just put up a custom Eliel Necklace that triggers a donation to help support Eliel's continued care!
