Hope: Thrown from a Car, Fighting for his Life

Hope: Thrown from a Car, Fighting for his Life

Second Chance Rescue received an urgent call for help regarding a 10-week-old puppy who was thrown from a moving vehicle in rural Georgia. Not only was his lifeless body thrown from a vehicle, witnesses state they saw him lying there for 2 days. Some thought he was already dead and some just didn't care…

When animal care and control arrived to collect his body, they realized he was alive and rushed him to the local animal shelter. That is when rescuers at Second Chance Rescue were called. Rescuers immediately responded and rushed puppy Hope to a critical care hospital.

The critical care doctors are racing against the clock to save Hope. Hope is lateral, pale, lifeless and has lost a lot of blood. Since there are no obvious signs of trauma, it is suspected that he has internal bleeding. In addition to this, his blood pressure and body temperature are dropping to dangerous levels.

A blood and plasma transfusion was performed to save Hope's life, but he is far from out of the woods. Although he initially responded well by gaining the ability to open his eyes and stand, his red blood cell count has since started to fall again. If his numbers do not start to hold, another blood transfusion is imminent.

His blood work also indicates he has a severe infection. The doctors have stated his prognosis is guarded and if he should survive, his recovery will take weeks.

Rescuers at Second Chance Rescue do not plan to give up on Hope and nor will we. He has been tortured enough in his short life and we are here to offer him a second chance. Rescuers will fight for him till the end. Critical care hospitals are extremely expensive and Second Chance Rescue could really use your support to cover Hope's medical expenses. With every purchase you make, you can change the life of Hope forever. Every tee and long-sleeve will deliver a life-saving donation to save Hope.

Updates

We want to share a heartwarming update on puppy Hope.

If you recall, a couple of weeks ago we received a plea for help regarding a puppy who was thrown from a moving vehicle and laid lifeless on the side of the road for 2 days.

Last week Hope was discharged from Blue Pearl and into the loving arms of Dr. Terry.

Since his arrival, Hope has been receiving a lot of love and top notch care .  His numbers have stabilized, he has not required any further transfusions and his edema is practically gone.

We cannot believe how far this beautiful little fighter has come.  We can confidently say that Hope is going to make it. He is a true miracle.

Thank you to all of the doctors and nurses who worked tirelessly to give this pup a second chance at life.  We love you, Hope! No one will ever hurt you again.
