Sadie: Most of Her Body Burned
During a recent cold snap, Sadie's family put her in a kennel, lined with straw, and put a heat lamp next to her. Unfortunately, the straw caught on fire, engulfing Sadie with flames that burned most of her body.
Unable to pay the emergency vet bill, the family surrendered Sadie to the Humane Society of Louisiana (HSLA). Rescuers immediately transported her to an emergency veterinary clinic, where they are treating her with antibiotics, pain medications, topical lotions, and are giving her fluids.
Even though she remains in critical condition, the clinic feels that Sadie has a strong will to live and will likely pull through.
The Humane Society of Louisiana needs your support to help Sadie recover! We have created this campaign to help HSLA raise the needed funds to help save Sadie. With every purchase, Hendrick & Co. will donate directly to help save Sadie and support her recovery. Sadie has a very long road to recovery and will not happen overnight.
UPDATE: Friday, February 26th was a historic day for animals in Louisiana. For the first time, a newly-developed stem cell therapy used for human burn victims was used on a Sadie! Doctors at the University Medical Center (UMC) Burn Center, located in New Orleans, heard about Sadie's plight and offered to treat her with the same therapy used on its patients. Nicole Kopari, MD, joined Dr. Dena Lodato, DVM, in the operating room to treat Sadie with the stem cell mist that is used to regrow normal cells and skin. This is a monumental time and Sadie is the first of her kind to get this very special treatment!
I just created the Save Sadie Pendant below to help us support Sadie and HSLA. Many of you have already helped support this very special girl and I can't thank you enough! We must continue our fight!
