Astrid was chained inside a landfill in Mexico!
This horribly abuse girl was left changed to die in a landfill in Mexico. Chained and unable to move, she sat slowly deteriorating. Just look at her body. In Mexico there are zero laws protecting pets like her. She was chained in over 100° whether for god knows how long.
Thankfully a someone stepped in and through social media our friends at Dallas Dog Rescue.Rehab.Reform were alerted and immediately went into action.
They brought her over from Mexico in the early morning hours. She was barely clinging to life and crashed on her way to the ER. Thankfully doctors went straight into action! They were able to stabilize Astrid. For the first time in her life she has a name! and she is critical. Literally skin and bones and very ANEMIC. Rushing her to the vet she started crashing. She couldn’t even lift her head and
Astrid is being transferred to DDRRR’s partnered veterinary staff in south Texas! She still has not walked and is very weak. She had a blood transfusion and is still receiving IV fluids and supportive medications.
She will remain hospitalized and Astrid is very scared. The ER bill was almost $1,700 and rescuers really need our support.
UPDATE: I know this is hard to see but we have to focus on Astrid and not our own discomfort. Her journey has just begun and is slowly recovering. She is literally skin and bones. Because she is so emaciated doctors have to carefully help her gain weight. Her skin is getting under control but still in rough shape. She is mostly hairless but her wounds are starting to heal wonderfully. Her stomach is now clear of the trashs he consumed. She is receiving warm medicated bubble baths to sooth her skin. Please keep supporting her care!
Please consider donating or purchasing one of Astrid’s custom products below. I painted a watercolor and this sweet girl to help fund raise! Get a Save Astrid mask, keychain, mug, coaster or bracelet! Thank you for your support. I will keep updating you on her care.
