Arabella: STOLEN from her yard and dragged by a car and left to die.
Rescue Dogs Rock NYC have offered a $5,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for allegedly dragging a three-year-old German shepherd behind a vehicle in Columbia, South Carolina . It is now believed Arabella and her sister, a brown pit bull named Sophie, were stolen from their home on Sunday evening. The dogs had been let out into the yard to relieve themselves and when it was time to call them in, both dogs were missing. No details have been released, however Sophie has not been recovered.
On Thursday morning, Arabella actually stood up for a few moments on her own. On Tuesday, the dog's back left leg was amputated. Veterinarians had been concerned her other rear leg had been damaged or that there had been pelvic involvement, but post-surgery, Arabella is reported to be making small strides. Stacey Silverstein, co founder of Rescue Dogs Rock NYC was relieved when the dog's medical staff stated Arabella had actually began to eat. She is now listed as stable, but will remain at the hospital for several days.
Arabella had barely been clinging to life when found in the St. Andrews Road area early Monday morning by Spirit Van Brown and her fiance, Monique Ramsey. It wasn't until Monique bent down and the dog picked up her head and tail slightly, that the woman recognized the animal as a German shepherd. Rescue Dogs Rock NYC has assumed the responsibility of Arabella, and has made sure the dog is receiving the best of care.
