Bean: Ignored by rescues and left at the shelter with degloved jaw
Bean was in desperation for critical care. The shelter labeled the pup as “rescue” only. Everyone was relieved when they heard “rescue” would come.....that is...until they never came. The shelter then had no choice but to start the process of euthanasia for the severely injured chihuahua.
But, Dallas DogRRR heard of the dire pleas for help and immediately stepped in to save Bean.
Bean's jaw has been ripped off her face and her tongue is necrotizing. Her condition was critical and Bean needed emergency expert care. Dallas DogRRR immediately transported Bean to the emergency hospital, where she was administered pain killers and antibiotics.
As rescuers all suspected, this is a pretty serious predicament for this little nugget. Rescuers are nurturing every tender emotional wound that Bean is feeling right now. She is scared and confused as to why she can't eat and why she is by herself in a cold metal vet cage. She can't shake the feelings of isolation that is harsh, unforgiving and lonely.
Bean met with a panel of experts and the concern as of now is that there is not enough skin to grab for the reconstruction of the jaw. They are also awaiting test results from Beans tongue that was necrotic. Dallas DogRRR will leave no stone unturned for this tiny baby that is not even 5 pounds.
We are so very pleased that Bean was able to receive the life-saving surgery to save her life and her body did not reject it. This was a gamble for sure but a success indeed. This little girl is a fighter and she is resting comfortably now. The Jaw will take a few months to completely heal and he will receive first class ongoing care.
Dallas DogRRR and Bean now need your help. With every tee, hoodie, bracelet or tote, you can help save Bean and give her the life she deserves.
Dallas DogRRR is a group of dedicated, animal-loving volunteers who support the abandoned dogs of Dallas, Texas, by collecting supplies, paying vet bills, locating foster families, facilitating adoptions, and advocating for a more hopeful future. We are often seen even in the trenches of SE Dallas searching for and rescuing forgotten dogs. We have no administrative fees; no one is on payroll. Every single cent that is donated goes directly to paying for vet bills and food/supplies for our rescued dogs, as well as for boarding (for those that don’t have fosters). We are simply a group of volunteers motivated by the inspiring rescue stories that we get to be a part of every day!
