Bibi Smalls was left at a vets in deplorable condition.
This rescue is literally happening as we speak. I know this is graphic but this is the reality rescuers are facing. Do you believe that animals can heal you? I know they can and I know we can heal them too. We will share more photos as soon as the vets take them.
This is a picture of a neglected animal who is raw, crusted in dry brown blood and in desperate need of medical care. The NYACC called Second Chance Rescue NYC to urgently help little Bibi Smalls the 4 year old Chihuahua after his owner had taken him to a local vet to euthanize him.
Bibi is in a lot of discomfort and the Animal Control Center has done their best to keep him comfortable but he needs major medical intervention now. Now, Second Chance Rescue has taken Bibi Smalls into their rescue and transported him straight to their emergency vet partner where doctors were waiting to save his life.
At this time they do not know what caused Bibi to look this way but he deserves specialty care and not to be given up on. His intake notes at the shelter said he is very very friendly to staff and volunteers.
UPDATE 5-10-19: Bibi Smalls is resting comfortably at Verg Specialty in Brooklyn. He is on pain medications, steroids and antibiotics. His painful wounds were debrided yesterday and rescuers are now waiting for a biopsy result to see what the next course of treatment will be. He has no broken bones, this is all superficial and hopefully something Bibi Smalls can get under control. Again, everyone talks about how incredibly sweet this 4 year old Chi is.
UPDATE 5-15-19: We have HUGE news! Bibi has left the ER after receiving 1st class care from VEG in Brooklyn. His biopsy results are FINALLY in and he has an autoimmune disorder and requires a couple of medications a day. He is in urgent need of a foster within 1 hr of NYC so that he can go to his follow up appointments with his dermatologist. This little one is very friendly and has been through the ringer. Can anyone foster sweet little Bibi? If so please apply to foster today at nycsecondchancerescue.org
UPDATE 6-7-19: 30 days ago this little Chi was going to be euthanized by the only family he ever knew at a vet practice in the Bronx. The vet refused to euthanize this sweet dog and then the shelter asked us to help him. SCR's President, Jennifer Brooks raced to the shelter to collect him and brought him to VEG specialty center in Brooklyn where he remained for over a week. Bibi is now in an amazing medical foster home close to his specialist for dermatology at Blue Pearl where he goes in every 2 weeks for his medications to be modified and check ups. His autoimmune disorder has improved SIGNIFICANTLY thanks to the specialty care he receives from his medical team and his wonderful foster mom. Bibi is a happy, gentle loving soul, we are so grateful he is doing well and that his life was not prematurely ended over a disease that IS manageable.
Rescuers are committed to saving his life but they need your support. We have created the animal saving products you see below to help rescuers cover Bibi’s care. We ask that you please share his story and consider purchasing one of his tees, hoodies, pillows or aprons below.
