Buster: The worst infection & neglect we have ever seen.
This story is going to break your heart. Let me take you back to the beginning. A rescuer saw Buster at Miami Dade Animal Services being surrendered by his "owner". He was in a cage in the sun, for over an hour along with another small dogs. She begged for the men to bring him inside out of the heat and they threatened her. She went in and got a animal control officer to come out and get him in out of the sun. Then 100 Plus Animal Rescue Inc. came in and immediately rescues this poor soul.
They knew that tjeu needed to get him out ASAP. When they got there nothing could prepare their team for the condition Buster was in. He was oozing puss and blood from every pore in his body, it was dripping off of him. He was completely emaciated, missing almost all of his hair, his eyes were barely open and filled with green mucus.
In over 3000 dogs they have rescued rescuers at 100 Plus Animal Rescue Inc. have never seen a case this bad. Even the vets at Lauderdale Veterinary Specialists said this was the worst case of mange with secondary infection that they have ever seen. He is receiving round the clock emergency care, is being kept sedated for his comfort, and is on a constant iv drip of fluids, antibiotics and pain meds.
It's a day-by-day process and it will be a long journey but we know, with your help, he will make it. His spirit is amazing!
100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglade
Over 3,000 dogs and 90 cats have been rescued by our group in the Everglades area of Florida (Florida City, Homestead and Redlands) and the surrounding areas of SE Florida. These animals have been abandoned by their previous owners and left alone to fend for themselves. Most are starving, full of ticks and at risk for several tick-borne diseases, heart worm, the elements and the wildlife and that is IF a speeding car doesn’t hit them first. We strive to bring awareness to the severity of the problem we have with countless starving, abandoned animals on the streets of the Everglades area.
