You won't the torture he put this puppy through...
Tears are pouring down my face. I can't even type what he did to this puppy. You'll have to watch his video to see what happened. ► http://dogco.org/save-caleb-rdrPosted by Hendrick & Co. on Thursday, August 11, 2016
UPDATE: August 13, 2016
It is with utter pain that we sadly announce that Caleb passed away.
Rescue Dogs Rock knew that when they rescued Caleb, the odds were stacked against him as he only had a 30% chance of survival, but they were going to try everything medically possible to give him every chance.
Due to the abuse he suffered the damage was already so severe. It would be an uphill battle.
He had the very best medical treatment by an amazing team of doctors who provided around the clock care for Caleb.
He passed peacefully on his own for which we all are grateful. His little defeated weak body just could not fight anymore.
We are angry. We are disturbed. We are distraught. We are sad and defeated. We are mourning.
You can continue to donate and purchase life-saving apparel and accessories in Caleb's name. All donations delivered will be sent in memory of Caleb to Rescue Dogs Rock NYC.
We appreciate the outpouring of support for poor horribly abused puppy, Caleb. He's at an ER hospital fighting for his life. He's on IV and getting a blood transfusion and an ultrasound. He is critical. They give him a 30% chance to survive. Right now all our efforts are focused on saving this baby's life.
Best way to help is to donate & share. The ER vet is costing thousands to try to save him. That's all we can focus on right now is getting Caleb the best possible care.
An investigation is being started up in Atlanta but there is little to go on. RDR is going to be offering a sizable reward and will update on that later today. Again for now we are focused on this baby's life. Thank you for your patience & your support!
Here is what we do know. RDR received a plea last night asking rescuers to help a badly injured puppy who a neighbor had witnessed being tossed over a "high" fence. As you can see in the first photo, the puppy, dubbed CALEB, has suffered significant trauma!
He was rushed to the local ER vet immediately. Upon being examined by the medical team they discovered this puppy was in far worse shape than originally known. Poor Caleb suffered not only head trauma, but he's clearly emaciated, covered in what look to be old cigarette burns and they found an "abnormal" anus! They medical team was so upset by his condition that a cruelty investigation is being started. There is no question that Caleb suffered CRUEL & sadistic TORTURE over time, They also discovered he has a broken jaw.
Caleb has endured the unthinkable, absolutely horrifying abuse! But you can help! Saving Caleb is as simple as wearing a tee! We have partnered with Rescue Dogs Rock in creating this week's animal-saving shirt, long sleeve and hoodie design to help us raise funds needed for Caleb's recovery. Please, if you are able, consider purchasing an item below to help save this baby's life! We can't do this without you!
UPDATE - August 12, 2016
Caleb is a fighter. Right now, the biggest issue is infection. He has a very bad infection that has spread to his bloodstream causing sepsis. To survive, the vets must get this infection under control. He is being treated with the most aggressive antibiotics. His red and white blood cell counts are being constantly monitored and are always changing. So far, he's had a blood transfusion and a plasma transfusion. Today, he will have another plasma transfusion.
The rectal prolapse (abnormal anus) needs to be repaired, but to do that, he will need to be put under anesthesia and he is just not stable enough right now to do that. Same goes for CT scan of his skull to determine damage there.
Aside from the infection and the prolapse, they know he has blood clots in his back legs and the skin/tissue has turned purple. Concern is this tissue is dying due to lack of blood flow. His blood pressure is holding steady. He has a broken canine which will also need to be addressed at a later time.
The good news is that he is more alert today, but he is still critical. His survival hinges on getting the septic infection under control. Yesterday, they gave him a 30% chance to survive and today they give him a 50%!!!!!! Yay Caleb, but please understand he is nowhere near out of the woods and this is very serious. Things could change at any time, but we are grateful he is still alive and there is some improvement.
Rescue Dogs Rock, Inc., rescues puppies and dogs from high kill shelters, owner surrenders, puppy mill throw aways and medically neglected and suffering dogs and give them the proper medical care, then we do our best to find them the perfect home. We are deeply committed to healing the physical and emotional wounds these animals have suffered.
