Carson was attacked by a bear.
A injured beagle was found in an area with quite a few bears. While doctors will never be certain, the animal that attacked Carson had huge jaws and put the entire mouth around him and shook him causing a pneumothorax puncture and 5 broken ribs. They believe this was a bear attack. Luckily a couple found Carson and took him to The Arrow Fund.
He had low blood pressure, low temperature and PCV was at 15. He has at least 5 broken ribs and a pneumothorax puncture from the attack. He is getting a blood transfusion and being warmed.
UPDATE 1-9-19: Carson is now responsive. The surgeon has determined no surgery is needed at this time. He currently is on a fentanyl drip because his pain level is so high due to the pneumothorax puncture and rib fractures. Doctors’ main concern is infection and free fluid. He has a long road ahead, but there is a good chance Carson will recover! He will remain at the specialty vet clinic in ICU.
We have created the animal saving products you see below to help raise the funds needed to cover the costs of Carson’s care. We ask that you consider purchasing one of these items and help support the The Arrow Fund save his life.
