Dando was found alone on the sidewalk, starving and covered in tumors.
No dog should be left to suffer on the street like Dando. A volunteer named Melissa sent these heartbreaking photos of this blind and alone dog on the sidewalk, starving, covered in tumors. The thought of him just waiting there for someone to help but help never came is heartbreaking. I am in tears.
New York Bully Crew immediately stepped in to save tiny Dando. The volunteer rushed Dando straight to the hospital to be stabilized and evaluated. We are told he stayed where people would recycle bottles and would hide under cars to shelter himself from the weather. And some locals would try to harm him and chase him away. We ask that you support NYBC's mission to help dogs in need no matter their geographical location! Rescue should not have borders.
Dando is being hospitalized and cytology test are being run to determine what type of tumors are present along with other diseases. His name Dando means GIVING in Spanish.
UPDATE: Dando has had his visit with the oncologist and we have heartbreaking news. His test results confirm TVT cancer, erhlichia combined with anemia, and a severed high burden of intestinal and skin parasites. He will need chemotherapy along with antibiotics for the tick borne disease. Chemotherapy cannot happen until he is healthy enough to survive.
We want to make the Holidays about saving Dando! Her medical care is extensive and expensive for rescuers! You can donate directly or we are sponsoring her care with one of our animal saving products. If you can consider one for yourself or a friend as a gift for holidays and Help this street dog get his second chance!
