Huck owners moved out of their home and left him behind.
Huck is a sad soul...You see, a few months ago, his owners moved out of their home in rural Pike County, AL and left him behind. Huck had been surviving any way he could, including going to neighbors for food. One Neighbor in particular started feeding him, although Huck would never come to him. I don’t blame him - as his owner...the people he loves...betrayed him.
The man tried to cox him to trust but never could. A few weeks ago, the man noticed his mouth dangling. Then Huck begin to lose weight… He couldn’t eat… Earlier today, Huck gave up. Tired, hurt, hungry and feeling as if no one loved him… He gave up hope and surrendered to his fate. Luckily for Huck, the kind man wanted to give him the best chance possible, so he contacted our partners at Troy Animal Rescue Project. Volunteers immediately rushed Huck straight to the Emergency Vet for surgery. Doctors were not prepared with what they saw.
Huck has a severe broken jaw (completely in half on both sides) that has been untreated for weeks. He had surgery to place pins and rods, as well as refresh the bones to help with possible healing. They also found out that half of Huck’s tongue is missing. We have no clue how this boy got these injuries, but now he has a long road ahead...both physically and mentally.
He spend 16 days with in intensive 24 hour care. This will be a long and costly road to recovery for Huck, but TARP will be by his side every step of the way. We save dogs, it’s what we strive to do, it’s what gets us out of bed in the mornings and wakes us up in the middle of the night. We believe EACH and EVERY dog deserves a fighting chance. Now we need your help.
If you could help with his surgeries we would be so grateful. TARP simply does not have the funds to cover his enormous vetting bill. We have stepped in to help in our own little way. We have created the Animal Abuse Awareness shirts, hoodies, totes and bracelets you see below. We ask that if you would consider one of these items to purchase. It's a great gift to give to family and friends and you get to tell them they helped save Huck’s life.
