Justice sat outside on a chain in front of his owners.
HELP! A dying dog sat outside its owners home with a chain around his neck that weighs more than he does. I normally don't find myself at a loss for words but I am completely stunned by the abuse he has suffered and the blatant torture of a dog! The photos of Justice went viral on social media finally resulting in police being called out to the scene. The two abusers, a male and female, were taken into custody.
Update 3/28/19: The abusers had their arrangement on the charges filed and only charged with a misdemeanor. This is not a trial but is an important step in the case. Rescuers are absolutely frustrated and heartbroken that they were not charged accordingly. The female defendant said she has medical issue so the Judge stated he is taking her health issues into consideration and that incarceration of the women would place "undue hardships" on her!?!? There for her bond was placed as a PR Bond or personal recognizance bond meaning she is released from custody immediately without having to provide any bail amount! This is a huge disappointment that the judge placed more importance on her medical issues than the medical issues of the dog she almost killed. Her co-defendant and boyfriend was also charged with a 20,00 bond. The male defendant is Alias Castro age 50 and the female defendant is Rosita Condo age 45. Here is what we know.
- They were only charged with Class A Misdemeanor.
- The female defendant does not have to provide any bond amount because of her alleged medical issues. She was released from custody immediately.
- The male defendant will only need to provide a 2,000 bond amount to be released.
- Weslaco PD is claiming they were never notified of any allegations of animal cruelty in the past at this address.
- The dog, Justice, may not survive the horrendous abuse he has suffered at the hands of these two cowards.
Despite numerous locals and rescue groups trying to help this senior dog, the owner refused dog food and even moved the dog away so citizens and rescuers couldn't feed or water him. Weslaco Police ignored multiple requests for help. This senior boy, now named "Justice" remained chained up and starving until it went viral on social media. His jaw has completely disintegrated leaving only infection and discharge where there should be bone and teeth. Justice is in kidney failure fighting for his life.
UPDATE 4-2-19: Justice is being transported to the specialist as we speak. He was in the emergency vets getting dental x-rays and chest x-rays when he developed overnight an awful cough making it difficult for him to breathe. This may be related to the massive heart warm issues or from all that discharge from is nasal passages. He also stopped eating last night. Either way he is being transported from the Emergency Vets to a specialist who is better qualified to diagnose and treat his respiratory problems. He still on 4 antibiotic and IV medications. He has relentless and unstoppable nasal discharge. He has been continually hospitalized since rescuers have taken him on. He is very sick and very critical. PLEASE keep supporting him and sharing his story. Rescuers at Dallas Dog RRR stated they will continue to fight for his life!
UPDATE 4-16-19 Justice's is kidney levels are maintaining he is ready to move to a medical foster in Dallas. He is going to have to have surgery on his mouth to remove all the infected teeth. He will also need neuter and heartworm treatment. Please consider offering to foster! He needs a quiet place for him to rest and recover. Apply to foster at dallasdogrrr.org
5-7-19 RIP Justice: He has crossed the rainbow bridge. Justice arrived in the care of Dallas Dog RRR just over a month ago. He was fighting for his life. He had been diagnosed with bronchitis and early stage of pneumonia, he was strong heartworm positive, loaded with worms, extremely emaciated and in Kidney Failure!
Justice had been struggling with his kidney values as they continued to get rise even with treatment; rescuers had him on multiple rounds of antibiotics treating the upper respiratory infection. His mouth was infected and his teeth had not been stable enough since he arrived to have surgery.
Rescuer Patti writes said her one of many wishes for Justice was that she found him sooner! Justice has had so many great moments the last few weeks despite his declining health. He enjoyed a burger, a walk in the park, a companion and friend who spoiled him rotten and showed him love. He would sit for hours with him, he had fed him and he loved on him. He experienced a warm fluffy bed and snuggles and kisses from many!
Sadly, Justice laid down for a nap and he did not wake up he crossed the Rainbow Bridge in peace on a warm bed surrounded by constant love. He was happy and was starting to smile in many of the pictures. He gained his wings and will now be an angel to watch over the many dogs in need.
Although his life was short off the chain, rescuers believe he experience love and compassion and the best medical care they could provide! He was just too sick, and just too far along in some of his illnesses. The Dallas DogRRR family is heartbroken.
Thank you to all that stood up and fought for Justice and his Freedom.Justice will get JUSTICE we will continue to fight for the voiceless, unwanted, CHAINED dogs. Run Free, Justice, Run Free, you will NEVER feel pain again.
