Koppy had her jaw shattered and her tail cut from her body.
Warning this is a graphic case of abuse. Our partners at The Arrow Fund saved a tiny 6 pound puppy who came to them with bottom jaw gone and was in agonizing pain. She was found on the side of a rural road in Eastern Kentucky Thats not all. Koppy also had her tail cut off, with most likely a knife, very close to her body. Infection set in and there was a maggot infestation. We have created this campaign to help raise the funds needed to save this girl’s life!
Yesterday volunteers transferred Koppy to Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital to be evaluated by Specialist Dr. Odenweller. After a full evaluation, he took Koppy into surgery. We are so thankful for the quick response and surgical care Dr. Odenweller provided for this baby girl.
Koppy had a fracture and necrosis of the rostral mandible and a portion of the right mandible. The portions of the lower jaw had to be removed along with any dead tissue and skin. The remainder of the wound was closed surgically, both in mouth and the outside skin. Koppy also had 3 fractured teeth in the upper jaw that needed to be extracted. Doctors will need to monitor healing and appetite going forward . She remains in a very critical state. This case is under investigation. Now we must focus on supporting The Arrow Fund in saving this puppy’s life.
UPDATE 6-9-18 : Lifesaving surgery to remove most of the lower jaw and a few teeth from the top was performed. Each day rescuers are seeing improvement. Dr. Patrick Odenweller is very pleased with Koppy’s progress. She is acting like a normal little puppy. The jaw after surgery that was removed is healing. There is a possibility that an additional surgery, will not be needed. She is still eating a wet gruel . Please continue to help us save this baby girl and support her rescuers!
We have partnered with them to help raise the funds they need to cover her emergency surgeries and continued care. For that we need your help!
To help Koppy please consider purchasing one of her shirts, totes, bracelets and coffee mugs below. We have partnered with TAF to create these animal saving products to raise the funds needed to save this innocent victim.
