Lightening: Owners dumped her at the vet to be euthanized.
Lightening is a 3-4 month old beagle puppy who was surrendered by her owners to Rescue Dogs Rocks' SC vet partner as a euthanasia request due to suffering a vicious attack and "shaking" by an adult dog in the home which resulted in a very painful broken jaw for this sweet, innocent puppy. Rather than get her surgery to repair her jaw, her owners brought her to the vet to be euthanized! Can you believe that?
Thankfully, the vet staff knew there was no reason this sweet baby just starting out in life should be killed, so they called and asked RDR NYC if they could take her on. Rescuers knew it would be a costly save, but they also knew it would be a sin to let this sweet baby die, so RDR said yes and as always, know our amazing supporters we agreed to help fund her recovery. We cannot do this without you!
Lightening is getting life saving surgery at the emergency/specialty vet and had her first procedure. Her jaw is wired shut and she will remain in the vet 2-3 weeks on a feeding tube which you can see in her neck. We know this is so sad for this puppy, but in 2-3 weeks, she gets her life back and we promise her a wonderful life waiting!
Lightening will remain at the ER vet until her feeding tube can be removed and she can eat on her own. She is being fed 8 small meals a day and each feeding takes 30-45 minutes. If she is not fed slowly and the correct way, she could aspirate and die.
We have partnered with Rescue Dogs Rock to help raise the funds needed for Lightening s care. With every shirt, bracelet, tote or hoodie you can give this hurt baby a second chance at a pain free life full of love. We know we can save her. Will you join us?
