Lilac was attacked over and over for days.
I am sorry in advance for the graphic nature of this case but this is the reality we are facing here and we need your help. How this baby is alive we do not know. Details are still unfolding and what we are about to tell you will bring you to tears.A Jogger called animal control and said she came back to her car and there was a dog shaking and hiding under it. ACO came out of his truck with a leash and she dragged herself right out from under the car and over to him. She said “she knew she was being saved”.
Lilac was attacked by multiple dogs by what it seems like for days on end. Her gruesome injuries are beyond the scope of what animal control can care for her there. Her jaw is badly broken (to the extent that she may not be able to have a normal life) , bones are exposed, puncture wounds everywhere, One of her legs appears to be broken, one leg has severe nerve damage, swollen and painful to the touch. She has a gaping, open wound on her leg that you can literally see through to the other side. She is barely 20lbs and has had multiple litters.
Lilac has endured suffering for a very long time, SHE IS FILTHY and the smell coming off of her is VILE. These wounds are not brand new and she is downright traumatized. To see this in person is a very heartbreaking scary sight. There is a very real chance she may lose some of that bottom jaw. She is in ICU as we speak. Her INITIAL estimate for surgeries and care will be at least $7,000 that rescuers do not have.
UPDATE 6-9-18: Lilac wants everyone to have a wonderful weekend. Lilac gets to enjoy this beautiful weekend because she matters. She fought for a very long time to get to where she is today. She may have lost her leg, but she gained a family the size of the universe. She is receiving so much love from those in the hospital and from all over the world! We are so touched by the outpouring of support and unconditional love for Lilac.
We have partnered with Second Chance Rescue NYC to help raise the funds they need to cover her emergency surgeries and continued care. For that we need your help!
To help Lilac please consider purchasing one of her shirts, totes, bracelets and coffee mugs below. We have partnered with SCR to create these animal saving products to raise the funds needed to save this innocent victim.
