Linus was dumped by his family at the shelter at 14 years old.

This nearly blind 14 year old senior was surrendered to the shelter by his family! It was late at night right at closing time. He desperately needed one eye removed and at least treatment for the other, this must have been so painful for him.

When rescuers first saw him he was shaking inside the kennel at the shelter. Old dogs don't deserve to be there, especially when they can't even see where they are. His family was more concerned about getting their nails and hair done instead of getting him the medical care he needed.

His eye problems are the last of his worries. Linus arrived to the Emergency Vets and he was very happy to be out of the loud shelter. What was done to Linus was DREADFUL. He will have surgery to remove one of his eyes and his doctor is attempting to save the other eye.

Second Chance Rescue is unsure at this moment if they can save the vision in his remaining eye. We are infuriated that his family dumped him at the shelter like this! It's absolutely unforgivable. Linus deserves someone who will cherish him. SCR NYC will know more about his lack of vision after a week or so of his multiple eye medications have taken its course. Despite not being able to see and despite being scared he is the sweetest little senior.

UPDATE 10/7/19: Since right now Linus cannot see he has a seeing eye dog named Chapman. Chapman is another rescue dog who is helping Linus navigate. Little Linus is still under medical hold. Linus has horrible teeth from years of abuse and will get a full dental when his one eye is removed. He has a hyperthyroid problem and both eyes are still being treated while he gains strength to have surgery. He has more test results coming in soon.

We are sponsoring Linus’ surgery with one of our new BE BRAVE END ABUSE t-shirts, tote bags and more. If you can consider one for yourself or a friend and help this unwanted senior find his second chance. He has so much more life to give. Second Chance Rescue NYC is dedicated to Linus!
