Louie: Crawling with hundreds of maggots and dumped to die.
I can't even type what he put him through. Tears are pouring down my face. You'll have to watch his video to see what happened. ► http://dogco.org/save-louie-rdr

Imagine being a neglected senior and being injured, crawling with maggots and dumped to fend for yourself in the middle of the street with cars passing you by. Is there any greater horror? With tears streaming down my face, this is the horrific reality for a dog named Louie.
When know these images are hard to see but we need to show the world what torture thus abuser put Louie through. After all these years in rescue, sadly not many things shock us any more. We see awful things every single day. Louie is different. This shocked us all to the core.
Rescuers got a plea this morning asking us if we could take this poor dog into their rescue and Rescue Dogs Rock didn't even have to hear all the details in order to say YES! Now they need our help!
OMG this pitiful senior was in the middle of the street, struggling to walk as cars just whizzed by him! What kind of heartless world have we become? It's sickening! He is NOT a piece of garbage! Like us, he feels pain! Thank god a Good Samaritan finally stopped and we are told as she put her arms around him, he just collapsed! He knew, no matter what happened, he was no longer suffering alone!
He was rushed into emergency care to our amazing SC vet partner. As you can see, he was literally crawling with thousands of maggots and fleas. Our vet and staff said they had never seen so many maggots in a dog. They were up in all these holes which are sores literally burrowed into his rotten flesh. There were even maggots in his scrotum. They had to pour alcohol on these open wounds to get the maggots to back out.
When we say "there are no words" this time there really aren't. We do not know what happened to him, but we do know it was NOT good! Because he was scooped up as a "stray" there is NO info on where or who he came from there for no abuser to be charged.
Louie has had a blood transfusion, been cleaned up, put on IV meds, made comfortable in a soft bed and he's being treated with compassion and respect. He's resting peacefully now for the first time in a very LONG time.
We love our supporters because we know you will root for Louie right along with us! We cannot do this alone. Saving Louie is as simple as wearing a tee! We have partnered with Rescue Dogs Rock in creating this week's animal-saving shirt. Please, if you are able, consider purchasing an item below to help save this baby's life! We can't do this without you!
