Lucas was burned with cigarette burns.
We have created this tee shirt campaign to help raise the funds needed to save a dog who had cigarettes put out on his back.
Lucas has been one of the worst cases of abuse we have seen. According to the shelter notes they suspect these are cigarette burns. He came in as a stray, dehydrated and flea infested with wounds all over his body and a large piece of flesh missing on the right side of the his stomach. Thankfully Dallas Dog RRR stepped in and rushed Lucas to the emergency vet.
Not only were these cigarette wounds inflicted on Lucas for 'fun', but rescuers learned he actually went untreated at the shelter for 4 days. The saddest part is he has not made one sounds throughout this process. To say he is depressed is an understatement.
The cigarette burns are one thing, but this sweet dog has multiple puncture wounds that are not bite related. Meaning those, too, were purposely inflicted. Doctors can't explain why chunks of his skin are gone, but we can only assume that was intentional as well. Doctors say there is simply no other explanation.
This is intentional animal abuse, and Dallas Dog RRR is filing an open records request to gather as much information as possible to request a police investigation as the shelter doesn't seem too interested in doing so. We won’t have any further information on this case until authorities respond.
For now, Dallas DogRRR is focusing on his care. He will remain at the ER Vet until rescuers can get him better stabilized for surgery. Dallas Dog RRR needs hundreds of dollars to cover Lucas’s care. We are here to help.
To help with all of the specialty care and vetting for Lucas please consider purchasing one of his shirts, hoodies or coffee mugs below. With every purchase you can help Dallas Dog RRR give him a second chance at life and love.
Dallas DogRRR is a group of dedicated, animal-loving volunteers who support the abandoned dogs of Dallas, Texas, by collecting supplies, paying vet bills, locating foster families, facilitating adoptions, and advocating for a more hopeful future. We are often seen even in the trenches of SE Dallas searching for and rescuing forgotten dogs. We have no administrative fees; no one is on payroll. Every single cent that is donated goes directly to paying for vet bills and food/supplies for our rescued dogs, as well as for boarding (for those that don’t have fosters). We are simply a group of volunteers motivated by the inspiring rescue stories that we get to be a part of every day!
