Lucy just died during surgery. Doctors spent a half hour trying to revive her.
This is a very difficult time right now. I just spoke to my dear friend Melissa of Troy Animal Rescue Project and her foster dog Lucy just died. She is devastated. As I am sure you know Melissa is heart broken and needs our help. Lucy was the victim of horrible abuse. She has lived a life of only pain and suffering and she just died during surgery.
Lucy was the mom to many puppies over my six years. Litter after litter, people swooned over the beautiful white boxer babies. The families came one by one and took them away until there were none… But no one noticed Lucy … No one noticed that every bone showed through her thin skin … No one noticed that she was covered in fleas from her head to her docked tailed … No one noticed that her white fur was brown with filth … No one noticed that her nipples hung low, filled with tumors … No one noticed that she was slowly dyeing.
I spoke to Melissa and she said, “I am in tears right now. Lucy did not make it. She actually survived surgery to repair the hernia and tumor removal. When they were waking her up, she bottomed out and they performed CPR for half an hour. Lucy's life was filled with pain and litter after litter for someone else's gain."
“She was my foster, my rescue. I drove through a blinding rainstorm and tornado warnings to get her to our vet. I gave her my all and I would do it all over again. Although her time with me was brief, I love her as much as my dogs I have had for years.”
Talking to Melissa brought me to tears. I know all to well how heartbreaking it is to loose a fur baby. It makes you question everything. Makes you wonder how much more you can take. She needs our support now more than ever. Her rescue spent thousands of dollars in donations they don't have trying to save Lucy and pick up the pieces her abuser left. Shame on the person who used poor Lucy for money then dumped her to die.
It's important to realize that just because Lucy has died does not mean her rescuers do not need your help! They need your help more now than ever. Lucy's vet bills are in the thousands and without help in donations Troy Animal Rescue Project will not be able to continue their fight against animal abuse! Please help! You can either donate directly here OR you can purchase one of Lucy's tees, hoodie, totes or bracelets in her honor here. Her life meant something.
