Macarena was thrown out in the trash!
Rescue never stops. Sometimes it’s overwhelming but we keep pushing forward because these animals deserve our fit! Poor Macarena was found in the trash searching for something to fill her empty belly. Yes, in the trash! Near & Far Animal Foundation stepped in to save her life.
She is skin and bones. She is weak and barely able to stand. Macarena needs to be immediately hospitalized and have diagnostic tests run to see why she is so frail. Most likely she will be positive for erhlichia, a tick borne disease that attacks the body and causes dogs to be severely anemic. If untreated, it can lead to critical care situation as a blood transfusion or death!
Macarena is in Latin America where independent rescuers' resources are less than minimal. These rescuers are doing everything they can with very little to save street dogs every day. They live among heartache and despair which is why we must support their efforts! NFAF specializes in saving animals in other countries across the globe!
UPDATE 3/3/20: Prayers needed. Frail Macarena was hospitalized last night to begin her IV infusion of iron, antibiotics and vitamin supplements. She is positive for tick related erhlichia. A blood transfusion was needed but donor blood is not available in this impoverished town (Peru) so the doctor is trying to boost her numbers with supportive care until they can find a donor!
Your support has been crucial to her treatment and please send healing prayers for this sweet girl. Please pray, donate or sponsor her care if you can. NFAF almost hit their goal of $850 for Macarena’s care. Please visit www.nearandfarAF.com to donate or purchase an animal saving t-shirt below.
Near & Far Animal Foundation
Near and Far Animal Foundation focuses on saving animals that are forgotten, abandoned and in dire need of a compassionate helping hand right here in our own land and across the globe. We are committed to working with independent rescuers and volunteers in places like Puerto Rico, Peru, Honduras, Venezuela and Mexico. We focus on saving the animals most organizations have not. Rescuing animals should not have borders. Every animal deserves the chance to be loved no matter where they are located geographically.
