Mark was hit by a car, severely injured and left for dead on a rural road in North Carolina. He was then picked up by animal control. The impact was so hard that Mark's bone is exposed on his hind leg. Frightened and weak, he's just a baby at a year old.
A rescuer in North Carolina was alerted to Mark's plight and stepped in and transferred Mark to an Emergency Vet to stabilize Mark in North Carolina. Rescue Dogs Rock NYC was called to help as X-rays showed that Mark sustained multiple fractures and a shattered pelvis. He would need life saving surgery to save his life.
Rescue Dogs Rock NYC could not just stand by and do nothing as they believe Mark's life matters and he deserves every chance to survive. They immediately had Mark transported to NY over the weekend so he could be examined and treated by their board certified orthopedic surgeon. The surgeon states that Mark will need multiple surgeries. Mark will be going into surgery today to first repair his shattered pelvis with plates and pins. Thereafter he will need surgery for his 2 broken legs.
Mark's injuries are severe and complicated and will be extremely expensive to repair. Rescue Dogs Rock NYC is 100% committed no matter what the outcome or cost. UPDATE 12-31-16 : Mark continues to recover from his pelvic surgery at RDR’s NY vet partner. Mark was traumatically hit by a car and suffered a shattered pelvis and severe road rash where the skin was scraped off to the bone. He is recovering nicely and will be able to leave the vet soon. This is the best news considering his prognoses.
