Muppins was found by animal control crying out in pain.
This tiny senior girl was found by Georgia animal control crying out in pain. She was screaming because she was scared to die and wanted someone to help her. Mappins was horribly abused and then dumped. She was dehydrated, lateral, barely hanging on and left in overgrown plants. Her eyes are destroyed, infected and she could not even stand.
Second Chance Rescue rushed her straight to the emergency clinic where doctors stabilized tiny Muppins.
She has been in emergency care for the past week. Her blood work is actually pretty good. She will lose at LEAST one eye, the other is very compromised but doctors are trying to save it. She has a collapsed lung lobe (dogs have quite a few lung lobes), she has minor free chest fluid ( a sample was taken to send out for testing), back up of blood flow on her gallbladder and what appears to be a growth near her heart. These are all treatable!
She started surgery to remove one of her eyes and have a CT-Scan. She is eating like a champion and walking on her own. She is even able to go to the bathroom unassisted. She is on pain meds and is very comfortable. Muppins will continue to be on supportive care until doctors start phase two of her treatments. This type of care is extremely expensive for SCR NYC and we are here to help.
We are sponsoring her care with one of our “Heart Paved With Paws” custom mugs, totes, aprons, and pillows. Please consider getting one for you or a loved one and help me help tiny Muppins and give her the continued care she needs!
UPDATE 9-10-19: Muppins survived her eye removal surgery and is recovering well. The next phase of her treatment begins and we are pleading for your help sponsoring her care!
UPDATE 9-16-19: Muppins is now officially cleared for adoption. At this time she will get to keep her other eye! It has improved enough to where doctors are certain it can be saved. She will be on eye medication for the rest of her life. Her chest imaging is CLEAR! Which means there was no more fluid to resample. Her teeth were scaled for cleaning nd she has been spayed. She has been put through the ringer so it's time for her to start a new life. She does have applications that are being finalized as we speak. Muppins will be making her NYC Debut on Sept 13th, she is flying in with Dr. Terry to hand deliver her to her new home!
