Panda's body was shutting down.
The list of things this tiny girl is fighting against is daunting. She has severe mange, swollen/raw limbs, bowed legs, malnourished, severely anemic and has trouble standing on her own. That is not it. Her eyes are so inflamed and inferred that they are unable to open. When our partners at The Arrow Fund first saw Panda their hearts sank. Was this abuse? Was this neglect? We simply do not know.
The only background information we do know is that Panda is the only surviving pup out of 9… I am so angry! If The Arrow Fund had not acted as quickly as they did Panda would not have survived either - - her entire body was shutting down.
She was evaluated for surgery and radiographs were taken. Panda also saw the Ophthalmologist today and she has eyelids that fold inward a condition called entropion. Both eyes will need surgery.
Panda was seen by the Dermatologist today and she has one of the worst cases of Sarcoptic Mange /Scabies she has ever seen. In addition doctors discovered she has a yeast infection in her ears which is very painful. Panda remains on IV fluids and in critical condition.
UPDATE 3-14-18: Baby Panda went from the Emergency Room to a medical foster home. There he has a soft warm place to sleep, a full belly, and medical foster mom who really knows how to love Panda. They took Panda outside for the first time and he started running around and chasing his foster dad. This is a huge step or run (hahaha) in the right direction. To think just a few days ago he was on death's doorstep to now being in a medical foster home... brings happy tears to my eyes. This doesn't mean that Panda doesnt still need our help! His rescuers at The Arrow Fund have vet bills in the thousands. We hope you will help support Panda and his continued care!
To help save Panda please consider purchasing one of her shirts, totes, bracelets and coffee mugs below. We have partnered with The Arrow Fund to create these animal saving products to raise the funds needed to save Panda. With your help they can give her a new life full of love and pain free!
UPDATE 2: Below is Panda in her own words telling you about her journey! Our sincere thanks to Debbie and Paul Croak , her amazing fosters!
"Hello my name is Panda and my life was saved by The Arrow Fund. (My foster mom is helping me write this.). See it has been a little over six weeks since my life has changed. Being I was the only surviving pup of 9, I am so thankful that the folks at The Arrow Fund were able to step up and take me in to their family. They were able to cover all of my medical bills because of the donations made by all of you. My foster mom tells me how lucky I am and how much everyone loves me. I am able to be a normal puppy thanks to you. I am able to run and play, my legs are getting strong and my hair is growing because the itch is all gone. I’m not worrying where my next meal is coming from because it just appears in my dish. I have tons of toys to play with and a nice soft bed when I want to take a nap. My foster mom says I should be taking more naps but I am afraid I will miss something. See I might have missed all of this, may not have know what it felt like to be loved if The Arrow Fund had not stepped up and taken me in."
