Peanut was suffering from a deadly disease sitting in a cold dark shelter.
Our partners at M.A.I.N. couldn't bear to see this little 2 month old Chihuahua baby sit at the shelter with his peeling face. He is suffering from a painful condition called Puppy Strangles. Puppy Strangles is a life threatening disease. It comes up suddenly, manifesting as sores around the muzzle, eyelids, and face. We have created this campaign to help us raise the funds needed to save his life. Get your Peanut shirt today!
Soon the lymph nodes of the throat become spectacularly enlarged. It doesn’t take long for the swelling to give way to pimples that rupture, bleed, and crust. The inner surface of the ear flaps are affected as well and lesions in other body areas occur. Fever, joint swelling, and loss of appetite can occur. Without treatment he could die from this disease.
Tiny Peanut was transported from the shelter straight to an Emergency Clinic for life saving care. This puppy has been suffering and in pain for a very long time! First thing is Doctors are stabilizing him. From there M.A.I.N. will know more about his condition. Right now they desperately need your help!
He is receiving a complete blood work, an emergency exam and pain medications. Peanut will be put on antibiotics and around the clock care. They will also need to use warm compresses on his face as it heals to help the dead skin come off easily.
Peanut continues to be on steroids and antibiotics to treat his condition. Despite the pain he's doing well. He's a typical puppy, fun and rambunctious - and he likes kids! His foster mom's grandkids are visiting and he's keeping them entertained. Please continue to support Peanut and MAIN, both desperately need your help!
You can help by purchasing one of Peanut’s shirts, tanks or totes below. We have partnered with Medical Animals In Need to create these animal saving products to raise the funds needed to save Peanut from this horrible disease. With your help they can give him a new life full of love and pain free!
Checkups for the for Peanut went well! He got his last puppy vaccinations which means in a couple of weeks he will get to visit some fun public spots. Peanut now weighs 7lbs 4 oz - he's all legs HaHaHa. He has to wait to be neutered until he's been off steroids for a month so he will hopefully be cleared for adoption in a couple of months. His care is still extensive and expensive or our partners at MAIN. Please consider purchasing a Holiday candle or shirt below and help MAIN with hospital bills.
