Penni: Help save a senior dog survivor from a Puppy Mill!

Penni: Help save a senior dog survivor from a Puppy Mill!

Penni has already lived more than any of us in her 7 years. She was used for breeding by a puppy mill. When her breeding capabilities were over she found herself being given away but landed into the loving arms of an elderly woman where her life seemed to have taken a turn for the positive. She was starting a next life in a rural area of Oklahoma, but then her owner began leaving for long stints to the hospital.

When her owner passed, Penni was given to a neighbor who knew her well. However, upon being delivered it became clear that something was wrong with this sweet little bulldog. She had an abscess on her face that was thought to have come from a spider bite. The neighbor did her best to care for Penni, but soon understood that she would not be able to care for the pup on her own. She was surrendered to Tornado Alley Bulldog Rescue so she could receive the best treatment possible.

The ones at fault are the greedy money hungry abusers at the puppy mill she came from. We have to work together to make sure these facilities are closed and people know to rescue animals… not buy them.

Penni is still being evaluated at the vet, but a few things are clear. She tested positive for ehrlichia, which is a tick borne virus, and bacteria. Also, at this point her eye will need to be completely removed. The trouble is that ehrlichia lowers the red blood cell count, which makes surgery very dangerous. She will need to undergo treatment for the virus before she can have the surgery to remove her eye.

Although her life has been hard, Penni continues to play, eat, and enjoy her each day to the best of her ability. This is the ugly truth to puppy mills.

We have partnered with Tornado Alley Bulldog Rescue to help raise the funds needed for Miss Penni's recovery. I am now asking for your help! I know we can turn her life around! Please, if you are able, consider purchasing an item below to help save Penni's life!

Tornado Alley Bulldog Rescue

Tornado Alley Bulldog Rescue (TABR) was founded in October 2012 by 5 ladies who wanted to make a difference in the lives of bulldogs in Oklahoma. At that time Oklahoma was primarily without an established bulldog rescue and bulldogs were being left with no options other than Craig's List when their families needed to find them new homes. TABR specializes in the rehabilitation and rehoming of the English Bulldog. We provide in home foster care, medical necessities, and behavioral classes to the abandoned and homeless bulldogs in our state. We also service Arkansas, New Mexico, the panhandle of Texas, and parts of Kansas and Missouri. Since October 2012 we have had over 250 bulldogs in our care.
