R.I.P! Phoenix who was set on fire by her abuser.
[ UPDATE 1 ] Our beautiful girl is going in today for her first of most likely many debridement procedures to remove the dead skin tissue caused when she was intentionally set on fire. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers today as well as help us tell her story.
[ UPDATE 2 : RIP ] I have tears pouring down my face. Phoenix sadly has crossed the rainbow bridge. Phoenix went into surgery today for her debridement and the vet was able to fully assess her wounds. It was bad, she had 4th degree burns all the way to her spine. There was no live tissue and she suffered severe nerve damage. Her rescuers at PMAR wanted to continue but after the hospital explained all she can and will mostly go through infections shock and possibly dying due to complications they had to let her go, to do anything else would be cruel...
I'm sharing these photos just so you can see the damage. PMAR rescuers are completely heartbroken. Please send your love to her rescuers during this difficult time. [ End Update ]
Meet Phoenix formerly #162721 who was picked up as a stray in Clayton county Georgia with severe burns down her spine and on her backside. We felt that the name Phoenix is fitting as she is quite literally rising from the ashes.
The vet did confirm for us what we all suspected - someone poured accelerant on her and lit her on fire. I'm going to pause as you let that sink in. The wounds had maggots, we cannot imagine the pain this baby is in. But even though she was set on fire by humans and underweight at only 45 lbs her tail still wags when she sees rescuers.
We just got an update from rescuers at PMAR, her condition is severe and will require extensive medical care. They will sedate her in the coming week for a debridement she's currently on pain medication, antibiotics and sulfasalazine cream. Recovery time per her doctor is a month or more.
She is truly a forgiving soul who trusts and wants love. It amazes me how she can still trust and believe in us after all she's gone through. It is the true soul of a Pibble - you can see it in her eyes and her forgiving nature.
We are so saddened by this but we are here to give her a new start to life. A life that knows no pain or cruelty. Please share Phoenix's story. She needs all of our support. I know these images are hard to see but PLEASE I cannot do this without you. We have partnered with Pibbles And More Rescue to create this weeks animal saving shirt designs! With one simple shirt you can give this tortured soul a second chance at life every abused animal deserves.

The majority of dogs we rescue are pit bulls but we do rescue all breeds.
