Prince was lifeless as he was brought in on n gurney.
"We have a 911! This dog is dying, we just received this message. He is on borrowed minutes and we are rushing to get him but we need your help. We do not have the funds but we can’t let him die without ever having a chance.” This was the plea our partners at Dallas Dog RRR sent out a few days ago. We took one look at Prince and realized just how close he was to death. He was lifeless while being brought into the vets on a gurney.
Just a few days later Prince is still touch and go and there are more questions than answers but here’s what we have found out about his current medical concerns. First he is being evaluated to determine if he sustain any severe nerve damage which would cause paralysis. He has a broken rib, fractured pelvis and air in his chest causing him labored respiration. He also has damage to his sacrum causing it to luxate when the joint is torn loose and shifts out of place. On top of that his tail was torn at the base and he has deep lacerations on his head.
There is an investigation but, like so many other cases, unless someone comes forward the abuser will likely never be found. Rescuers are focusing solely on saving Prince’s life.
The type of care he is receiving coupled with the severe medical problems Prince has means a very... very large vet bill for Dallas DogRRR. These are funds the rescue just doesn’t have. They have exhausted all avenues and now we have stepped in to help in our own little way.
Thank you for standing with DogRRR by Prince’s side and showing him that his life matters, he is loved and he is worth saving.
Prince is doing “OK” he is stable for now, but did not do well with anesthesia. He had heart rhythm issues that were temporarily treated with meds but kept coming back. Doctors got the perirectal tear cleaned but not closed before they had to wake him up. He likely has severe heart muscle bruising (cardiac contusions) from the trauma. He is currently stable but needs constant medications and monitoring to keep him there.”Please continue to donate for his care we are not out of the woods yet"
We have created the Animal Abuse Awareness shirts, hoodies, totes and bracelets you see below. We ask that if you would consider one of these items for your Christmas gift list. It's a great gift to give to family and friends and you get to tell them not only did they get a cute shirt but they helped save Prince.
Dallas DogRRR is a group of dedicated, animal-loving volunteers who support the abandoned dogs of Dallas, Texas, by collecting supplies, paying vet bills, locating foster families, facilitating adoptions, and advocating for a more hopeful future. We are often seen even in the trenches of SE Dallas searching for and rescuing forgotten dogs. We have no administrative fees; no one is on payroll. Every single cent that is donated goes directly to paying for vet bills and food/supplies for our rescued dogs, as well as for boarding (for those that don’t have fosters). We are simply a group of volunteers motivated by the inspiring rescue stories that we get to be a part of every day!
