There really are no words for how heartbreaking this abuse case is. Tiny Ralph has been abused and neglected so severely for years and this is the result, exactly what you see in this video and photos. He tumbles in pain and fear.
Rescue Dogs Rock saved this emaciated senior with a broken jaw weighing only 4 pounds. They wrote, “We are not going to give up on Ralph because we believe that he's a fighter and he deserves everything we can give him to survive.” Now we are desperately seeking your help! We have partnered with RDR to help raise the funds needed to save little Ralph but we cannot do it without you.
Movement of Ralph's broken jaw is extremely painful so their emergency vet partner is using a small band to hold his jaw together to create as little movement as possible in the area . Additionally Ralph is on multiple pain medications to keep him comfortable. He is still on an IV and being fed through a tube and will remain this way until he is stabilized. His glucose levels are high and concerning so doctors are watching that closely.
Ralph was brought into a Georgia High Kill Shelter in this condition with no information on what happened. He was immediately transferred to an Emergency Hospital for life saving medical care. He's too weak and sick to even address his broken jaw at this time. He can not even hold up his head.
UPDATE 5-17-17: Ralph is still at the NY Specialty Hospital, awaiting surgery on his broken jaw. Unfortunately the surgery is on hold for at least a week as Ralph suffers from a severe corneal laceration that must heal first before surgery can be performed. He will remain at the Hospital receiving medical care and gaining weight until he is cleared for surgery. Between his weeks of vet care and his upcoming surgery, Ralph's medical costs are in the thousands.
UPDATE 5-25-17: Ralph had jaw surgery today, his jaw was broken in several places, almost shattered beyond repair. Ralph needed a plate on each side in the back of the jaw to keep it in place. Overall, considering the extent of damage Ralph sustained to the jaw, the surgery was a success. For the next 2 months, Ralph will need to wear a muzzle to keep the jaw in place , with little movement Ralph also suffers from a severe corneal laceration which is being treated with eye drops every 2 hours. We are hoping and praying his eye will not need to be removed. Ralph will remain at the Specialty Hospital to recover from his jaw surgery over the weekend. Ralph's surgery and hospital stay is well over $5000 at this point. Between Ralph and Joeys surgeries today Rescue Dogs Rock are close to $8000 in vetting. Not to mention all the other dogs having various surgeries this week.
This is where we are asking for your help! We have partnered with Rescue Dogs Rock to raise the donations needed to save Ralph’s life. Together we have created the Animal Saving shirts, sweaters and totes to raise the funds needed. Purchase yours today. We made a promise to Ralph and RDR that we will not stop until he is pain free and on his way to a new life!
