Rosa has a HUGE tumor and has only lived a life of abuse.
This girl was shaking in pain when she arrived. Huge tumor protruding from head , emaciated, flea infestation, skin irritation , and severe ear infection in both ears. Many of her teeth are ground way down - it seems she has been gnawing on metal. This story gets even worse!
Upon intake Rosa was immediately put on IV pain medications , IV Fluids , and IV antibiotics. The Arrow Fund wanted to stabilize her. The tumor was clipped and cleaned, blood tests were run, radiographs and an ultrasound were performed. A needle aspiration of the tumor was taken and we have been waiting for the cytology report . Before performing surgery we wanted to get more of an idea of what we were dealing with. To think what Rosa has been put through breaks our hearts. This case is still under investigation.
The cytology report just came back. There is no evidence of cancer from the aspirate. The whole area once removed will be sent out for pathology. This is the only way we can be certain she is intact cancer free.
Her abuse doesn't end there. Rosa is dealing with ear infections in both ears. This is a horrible infection and is very painful for her. Special ear drops were compounded and she has started on them. Doctors also did a culture from the infection and we are waiting on results. They have started her on a re- feeding program because of her being emaciated.
She went in for surgery today.
Surgery was done to remove the large tumor on her head . This will be sent for Pathology. Another small tumor was found while prepping her for surgery and taken off as well. Doctors are so hoping for a good report. Rosa is resting now and the dedicated Veterinary staff is keeping her comfortable. We love this precious girl so much ! While Rosa was still under anesthesia her ears were cleaned out . As reported earlier , Rosa has a horrid ear infection in both ears . Rescuers still are waiting for a culture to come back on her ears to make sure we have the correct antibiotics on board to clear this infection up.
Rosa had another round of surgeries to remove mammary tumors , small skin mass , an eyelid mass , and she was spayed . She came through surgery well and we will wait on pathology again . The two large protruding tumors from her head from the previous surgery were benign . The Arrow Fund is certainly hoping for the same results here . Rosa is a sweet girl who loves life . Volunteers at The Arrow Fund are honored that we could help this innocent girl that was so neglected.
Rosa has had several surgeries now and this is at a huge cost the The Arrow Fund. That is just not the type of funds they have. We have stepped in to help in our own little way. We have created the Animal Abuse Awareness shirts, hoodies, totes and bracelets you see below to save Rosa. We ask that if you would consider one of these items for your Christmas gift list. It's a great gift to give to family and friends and you get to tell them not only did they get a cute shirt but they helped save Rosa's life!
The Arrow Fund
The Arrow Fund provides medical treatment to Kentuckiana animals who have been the victims of torture or extreme forms of abuse and neglect.
