Simba: Found tied to a stop sign practically cut in half
We do not know how many days or even weeks that this poor puppy was tied very tightly from his body to a stop sign. The rope burns turned practically into full dismembering of Simbas torso and legs. We can only assume poor Simba was trying to break free and the friction and grinding of trying to free himself from bondage almost cut him in half on two places of his body.
To add insult to injury (no pun intended), Simba's wounds are now septic. He is sitting in a kill shelter that can't provide the resources to give him the emergency care that he needs to treat the gaping holes on his body. Simba has no idea of the extent of his own injuries, he remains loving and friendly.
Just when we think that we have seen it all, another dog comes and makes all us take a step back in shock and horror. I don't get it, I can't comprehend the blatant neglect, abuse, and disregard, for a sweet dogs life. To tie him to a sign so tightly, abandon him and let him get eaten alive by flies, ants and lord knows what else. It's common sense just like when you're supposed to stop eating when you're full. There are soulless monsters amongst us but right now is the time to show Simba the best part of ourselves to help save his life and get him out now.
Thanks to Dallas DogRRR, in partnership with Second Chance Rescue, Simba will get out of the shelter and get the medical care he needs to survive. But, Simba needs your help.
We have created this campaign to help raise the funds needed to save Simba. This will not be easy and will be a long road to recovery, both physically and emotionally. With every purchase you make, you can help save Simba.
Update October 16, 2017
His medical team has upped the pain killers, our Simba is in a lot of pain and he tries to hide it because he's so gosh darn sweet. Simba has a fractured hip and a fracture femur, all on the same side. These wounds are at least 7 weeks old and they both will require 2 surgeries. Simba is also infested with hookworms and his blood count is extremely low. We need to get at least 10 pounds back on Simba for him to be strong enough to endure 2 more surgeries. The doctors also still need to close up the last wound on his upper torso. In summary, someone did quite the number on him and then tied him to a street sign.
Dallas DogRRR is a group of dedicated, animal-loving volunteers who support the abandoned dogs of Dallas, Texas, by collecting supplies, paying vet bills, locating foster families, facilitating adoptions, and advocating for a more hopeful future. We are often seen even in the trenches of SE Dallas searching for and rescuing forgotten dogs. We have no administrative fees; no one is on payroll. Every single cent that is donated goes directly to paying for vet bills and food/supplies for our rescued dogs, as well as for boarding (for those that don’t have fosters). We are simply a group of volunteers motivated by the inspiring rescue stories that we get to be a part of every day!
