Soldier was shot in the neck and left for dead.
This precious soul was left for dead in Dothan AL. He was shot in the neck leaving the bullet shattered inside causing a mean infection. A handful of amazing people are to thank for saving this little Soldiers life. Saturday came with bad news. Soldier just wasn't progressing and needed specialty care. Euthanasia was weighing on everyone's minds. But, rescuers decided he had the fight in him to survive.
So Soldier was moved to one of PPS trusted Specialty Vets in Montgomery, AL. He has bee on IV and pain meds the entire time. Later that afternoon two sweet ladies transported Soldier from Dothan to Montgomery. Dr King immediately got him shaved down and x-rayed. What was thought to be an arrow wound, has now proven to be a gunshot wound. Soldier still had the bullet inside of him. This was bad!
Next, doctors performed surgery to remove the bullet fragments and check the damage. No bones were broken but the infection has progressed so much and there was a possibility his muscle had detached from his shoulder. We are hoping and praying that this can be repaired and minimal damage. But we need your help!
PPS said, “Our vet bill for Soldier alone is up to $1,275 It is $75 a day for hospitalization. He is receiving around the clock care by Taylor Crossing staff and Dr King is very hopeful that Soldier will make a full recovery. We desperately need your help. Our vet bill in Troy is $5,000 and now we are going to have $2,000+ in Montgomery.” Please consider helping towards Soldier’s care!
You can help save Soldier by purchasing one of his shirts, hoodies, tote or bracelet that donates to his medical care! These make great gifts and each and everything helps save Mr. Soldier. Help us give Soldier the second chance at life he deserves.
UPDATE 12-29-16 : Look who got to come home to a medical foster! If you don't already know, Soldier was shot by an evil human being and has been fighting for his life at the vet for several weeks. Soldier is doing much better now and was released yesterday. He is still on heavy antibiotics and pain medication to keep him comfortable. Rescuers wrote, “Soldier’s bill at Taylor Crossing was over $2,000 and one of the sweet souls that helped rescue him, also covered his vetting. Just when you almost lose hope in humanity, you realize there are still some pretty awesome folks left out there!” We cannot take credit for saving Soldier, he has had a large group of angels behind him from the beginning, from being shot, to being rescued, the vet that first treated him, the sweet folks that transported him to our vet, Dr. King and his staff at Taylor Crossing, and to the donors who helped with his vetting. Soldier is on his way to bigger and better things. Once Soldier recovers he will be available for adoption or approved rescue.
