Spade was dumped with a severed vertebrae!
This is happening now. Our partners at Second Chance Rescue NYC are working on a horrific abuse case. He only had hours before Euthanization. Rescuers took one look and knew they needed to step in. A dog called Spade was turned into a kill shelter with his tail cut off, a severed vertebrae, internal injuries, his right ear is burned, multiple burn sites on his body, a fractured leg and his nails ripped off of his paw. He is suspected to have internal bleeding. Please he desperately needs your help!
Volunteers drove in horrible weather for 2 hours to pull him from the euthanasia list! This dog needs a holiday miracle now. He can't even stand up and has endured horrific abuse at the hands of a monster and dumped after they were done torturing him.As you can see Spade is in pretty rough shape. He was rushed straight to the back at the Emergency Clinic. He underwent several imaging, blood-work, pain management etc... Later today rescuers will speak with the medical team on what surgeries will be done at the same time and what will have to be triage afterwords after doctors go over all of the diagnostics.
The two major concerns are the leg/hip and the severed vertebrae. Despite how much pain humans have inflicted upon him he still trusts anyone who has handled him, the medical team, SCR volunteers and transporters. To say we need your help is an understatement. This will cost rescuers many of thousands of dollars. We are here to help raise the funds needed for Spade’s care.
Spade continues to amaze us with his series of small victories that had a serious potential to defeat him and we all stumble forwards from that point. We are profoundly grateful for the lessons we continue to learn from Spade. Spade will need a medical foster home to rest his tired body and soul in about a weeks time after he has done his preliminary surgery recovery this week. He is a very gentle sweet dog.
If you could help with Spade’s surgery and extensive vetting, we would greatly appreciate it. We have stepped in to help in our own little way. We have created the Animal Abuse Awareness shirts, hoodies, totes and bracelets you see below. We ask that if you would consider one of these items for your Christmas gift list. It's a great gift to give to family and friends and you get to tell them they helped save Spade.
