Tara is being rushed into emergency spinal surgery.
URGENT! Unfortunately immediate surgery is Tara’s only chance at the possibility of having a normal quality of life. Tara’s clinical diagnosis is Atlanto-axial malformation with dens aplasia. This is generally an inborn malformation of the juncture between the first and second vertebrae. All because someone chose not to give her vet care.
She is unable to stand or walk, she can not eat independently and must be hand fed. She is also unable to lap water like a normal dog since it requires movement of the neck. Tara’s medical team has to hand feed her ice slushees in order for her to remain hydrated.
Her only hope at ever being independent again or walking is this surgery. Her rescuers at New York Bully Crew are terrified, but at the same time very hopeful as the surgeon noted Tara does have pain response in her hind legs. Doctors are certain with surgery she will be able to have a normal life.
NYBC knows she will remain in Intensive Care for 5 days post-surgery and could be held longer depending on how she does afterwards. Please help her rescuers cover the costs of Tara’s life saving surgery. They will literally move mountains to give Tara every possible chance at being the happy puppy again.
This is an extremely delicate and expensive surgery. The current estimate is between $5500 and $6400. New York Bully Crew must pay 75% of the total estimate upfront before they will perform the surgery. We want to see her pain free and walking again, can you help us get her there?
UPDATE 5-8-19: Tara’s surgery will take place in just a few hours! Please support!
UPDATE 5-10-19: Tara’s surgery was a success and she made it through it like the strong girl she is. Two screws and cement were placed to stabilize her vertebrae in hopes that this surgery will give Tara back the life she deserves. Please continue to pray for this little girl. It’s so nice to see her pretty face without the uncomfortable wrap. New York Bully Crew gave her the chance that no-one else would. They are true heroes and still needs your support.
UPDATE 5-14-19: Look who is up and walking around! And without her brace! Tara is waking and eating on her own and even drinking normally. Her spinal surgery, although risky, was a huge success! Her progress is right on track and she is healing beautifully.
We ask that you please pray for Tara, share his story and help us cover the costs for his care by purchasing one of her t shirts, hoodies, aprons or pillows. With every purchase you can help cover her emergency surgery!
