An investigation into a women who called herself a "rescuer" but actually was the abuser.
We have created this tee shirt campaign to help raise the funds needed to save several dogs and cats from a women who called herself a “rescuer” but in reality she was the abuser.
A local rescuer, Christie Lee Baker, left her home and her rescue pets for at least a week with no food or water. They are sick and all have been starved. No one was receiving vet care. Unfortunately, the dogs got so hungry that they killed at least 7 of the cats (In the photo of the grass you will see the body parts of several deceased cats). The landlord said the home had such horrible smell of urine and feces that it would take your breath away.
The dogs have horrible water diarrhea - most likely from parasites. The cats are all so very skinny- some with respiratory issues and a couple with more serious problems. Just look at their photos and you can see what rescuers are dealing with. We will know more today when they go in to the vet. To make matters worse 3 of the female pitbulls are pregnant.
UPDATE 9-24-18: These animals are so happy to have food, fresh water, and cleaned daily. As of now, at least three of the female pitbulls are pregnant. None of the 27 animals were spayed/neutered. Vet staff are trying to put weight on them quickly, as being without food for so long could affect the prenatal development of the puppies. The cats are unfortunately not doing as well. Cats are sensitive animals and with most of these either skinny, sick or both, they are struggling. TARP unfortunately lost one very sick Kitten over the weekend. To say we are upset is an understatement. That this all happened at the hands of someone who called herself a "rescuer".
Our friends at TROY Animal Rescue Project has an enormous vet bill but their founder said they would not turn their backs on these pets that have already been failed by the person that was supposed to protect them. This case is under investigation and TROY rescuers will update their page as soon as any information becomes public.
For a small local rescue like TROY they need our help desperately. I know you will support us in our goal in raising enough funds to cover their care.
To help with all of the vetting for these cats and dogs please consider purchasing one of their shirts, totes, bracelets and coffee mugs below. With every purchase you can help TROY Animal Rescue Project save their lives!
