Truffles: Dragged by a car, left for dead in a ditch
Truffles is a 3-year-old black lab mix. She was hit and dragged by a car and left in a ditch for two days before being rescued in Opelousas, Louisiana.
She suffered life threatening injuries - here are notes from her orthopedic surgeon: We had to use a plate and screws on the pelvic bone, femur bone, tibia bone, and had to place a screw for a sacroiliac luxation. She also had an infected uterus (pyometra) that had to be removed on emergency. Truffles he was pregnant at the time she was hit and all her puppies were crushed and killed upon impact.
After surgery, she will receive a class IV laser treatments to address the severe road rash and wounds on her abdomen, physical rehabilitation in the underwater treadmill, and several hyperbaric oxygen treatments.
Incredibly, after 5 surgeries, she is healing and on the road to recovery! She is getting top-of-the-line, high tech veterinary care and South Paws Veterinary Surgical Specialists. But, the Humane Society of Louisiana still needs to raise about $1,500 more to cover her expenses so far.
Thanks to the Humane Society of Louisiana, Truffles is getting a new lease on life. It will be a long road to recovery for Truffles and will likely take months of therapy and medical care. Truffles and the Humane Society of Louisiana need your help today. With every purchase you make, you can be part of Truffles care and road to recovery.
Humane Society of Louisiana
Our humane society was established in 1988. We operate two no-kill sanctuary: one for companion animals and one for farm animals. We are also a private detective agency, licensed by the state and one of our primary activities is to investigate cruelty to animal complaints. We work directly with dozens of law enforcement agencies on a regular basis, providing tips and logistical support, especially in the rural areas of Louisiana, where there are few resources for animals.
