Von has blunt force trauma to his skull.
We have created this product campaign to help raise the funds needed to save a puppy with severe brain trauma. This tiny baby was hit so hard in the head he has brain swelling. He was saved from Montgomery County Shelter in Kentucky where he would have been euthanized due to overcrowding and lack of funds.
The Arrow Fund transported Von to their Neurologist. They chose to name him Von because it means “hope”.
Ultrasound confirmed direct blunt force trauma to the left side of his skull. Ultrasound also revealed abnormalities in both his kidneys and liver for which additional diagnostics have been sent to rule-out or confirm possible liver shunt which would require surgical intervention.
Von also is extremely hypoglycemic, which seems to be aggravating and intensifying the effects of his cranial trauma. The hypoglycemia was so severe that he was experiencing cluster seizures and even affecting his ability to see which we will continue to monitor to ensure he keeps as much of his sight as possible.
To stabilize Von the neurologist administered Mannitol for the brain swelling. There are some good signs. Von did eat when food was offered to him, which is a great sign. Von is precious and is fighting so hard! It will be a long road to recovery for this boy. His condition is guarded. Please keep him close to your heart .
To help with the neurologist vetting for Von please consider purchasing one of his shirts, hoodies or coffee mugs below. With every purchase you can help The Arrow Fund give him a second chance at life and love.
Update: November 1, 2018
Upon being admitted to Bannon Woods Veterinary Hospital, Von was treated for brain swelling and fluid build up in the brain. They also started treatment for suspected poisoning. Von has responded, so it is highly likely that Von was poisoned as well as receiving a blow to the left side of his head causing severe blunt force trauma.
Von now can stand and take a few steps. He has some vision back as well . All are indications of him responding to the treatment for brain swelling and poison. He had another ultrasound and his liver looks so much better than it did on intake, after receiving immediate, proactive care.
We still do not know the residual damage from the heinous crimes against Von, but we are monitoring him closely. Remember Von was unresponsive, unable to stand, and blind on intake. He surely would have died without quick access to Advanced Veterinary Care.
Von continues to need your help.
