Brayden is a victim of a backyard breeder.
This little pit-bull puppy was dumped at an emergency veterinary clinic in Berkeley, by an anonymous individual. He was suffering from severe trauma injuries after being mauled by his dad, a large un-neutered male dog. We are absolutely heartbroken by his condition.
This poor little pup’s injuries include severe facial trauma, painful lesions and abrasions as well as a fractured skull and a broken jaw. His facial trauma includes a “rostral maxilla fracture” (broken upper jaw/pallet in the front) which will require specialty surgery to remove pieces of bone, tissue and likely teeth.
Judging by the fact that this little guy was left unattended with an un-altered male and given his young age, rescuers are fairly certain this poor puppy came from an irresponsible and neglectful “backyard breeding” situation. The breeders most likely didn’t want to pay for his medical treatment and chose to abandon him after irresponsibly bringing him into this world.
The decision was made for K9PPR to try and help save his life. He stayed overnight in the hospital as an inpatient as he had swallowed a lot of blood and needed intensive inpatient care to become stabilized. The partial maxillectomy that he will most likely need is generally performed by a specific specialty department since they remove bone and jaw, tissues etc. Specialty surgery basically means extremely expensive. Even after suffering these horrific wounds and enduring horrible pain, his little tail still wags and he gives very gentle kisses.
Brayden is at UC DAVIS for his surgery today! He had his CT scan and has an absolutely wonderful Veterinary Team looking after him. Specialty Dental/ Ortho Dept confirmed the Multiple fractures mainly on the right side of skull and his jaw diagnosed and treated at PETS (Emergency Vet in Berkeley). He may need a face mask to stabilize his jaw. Teeth, bone and tissue will need to be removed.
We are reaching out for help raising funds for his care and possible multiple surgeries. We know that there is a very high chance he will suffer complications as is common with this type of severe trauma. So, we have stepped in to help. We have created the Animal Abuse Awareness shirts, hoodies, totes and bracelets you see below. We ask that if you would consider one of these items below. It's a great way to show family and friends that not only do you have a cute shirt but you helped save Brayden’s life.
