Lumiere: Horrific wound to the neck
Lumiere, French Bulldog, was found with a horrific wound to the neck, severely emaciated and weakness to the back legs. Rescuers do not yet know how it happened.
Lumiere was immediately transported to the vet hospital and put on medications to alleviate the pain.
Emergency surgery has been completed to repair a hole in Lumiere's cheek. The actual large wound was cleaned and a tie over bandage was applied after surgery. This large wound will not heal on its own as it is a very big area. Lumiere will undergo, when he is in better physical shape, a surgery that will require a flap of skin removed from his shoulder or thigh to be surgically applied to his neck.
The Arrow Fund also did a CT scan of his spine while he was under anesthesia. Lumiere has some unexplained weakness in his back legs. Muscle mass has deteriorated. The rescue is unsure if this is due strictly to being so emaciated for a long time. So proper nutrition will be so important for this boy. They will also look in to physical therapy when he stabilizes a bit.
Lumiere's medical care will be costly, as most of medical cases are. We have created this campaign to help give Lumiere the surgeries and care he needs and support The Arrow Fund. With every purchase of a tee, tote or accessory, you can help save Lumiere.
