Mellie's family didn't want her so they left her behind.
As I sit here and see her in such cachectic condition, I am speechless as to how so many innocent dogs are forced to live sad, lonely, hungry lives. This is Mellie.
Her family abandoned her and moved away. She was left with no food, no home, no protection. Mellie waited. Alone. But they didn't comeback. The people in the area threw stones at her so she would stay away from them because her skin has a foul odor. In Honduras homeless dogs are treated horribly.
A volunteer in Honduras, Melissa, was notified and asked NYBC if they could help poor Mellie. Although her family turned their backs on her, we will not. Please help rescuers get Mellie the medical care and treatment she will need to overcome her heartache and condition. Mellie will be evaluated at the clinic and diagnosed.
Mellie visited the clinic and had her preliminary testing done. She is positive for erhlichia which has made her anemic, she is filled with parasites, she has a sticker tumor venereal cancer. She will need at least 4 chemotherapy treatments and supplements and vitamins to build her strength to withstand the therapy. This is 3 dogs now in the care of NYBC that are receiving chemotherapy treatments.
We are sponsoring Melllie’s care with one of our new BE BRAVE END ABUSE t-shirts, tote bags and more. If you can consider one for yourself or a friend and help this innocent victim survive what was done to her. Even though her family does not want her we do!
